What does case management mean to you?

To me, case management means acting as a bridge between clients and the resources they need by assessing their unique situations, creating personalized action plans, and facilitating access to services like healthcare, housing, education, or social support. It’s about advocacy, problem-solving, and fostering positive outcomes for the people we serve.

What about your new role at CYS excites you the most?

I'm most excited to see the improvements and changes that the youth make.

What is unique about your role at CYS?

What I find unique about this role is being able to connect with individual youths and families. Getting to know youth for more than the mistakes they commit is very rewarding.

My goal within this role is to keep an open mindset when connecting with youth and their families. I want to learn and understand more about the backgrounds that the families come from and provide them with the resources that they need.

Drucilla Nungaray, Case Management Specialist

What about your new role at CYS excites you the most?

What excites me the most is the opportunity to work with youth. I find great fulfillment in guiding young people and helping them find a path that leads to success. While I understand that not every case will have the same outcome, I am excited to support these youth in overcoming challenges and achieving their full potential. The ability to make a positive impact on their lives is something I truly look forward to.

Since starting, what impact have you already noticed your role has (or will have) on the youth, families, and communities we work with?

Since starting my role at CYS, I’ve noticed that many youth are unaware of the numerous resources available to help them. I've worked with a few families who didn’t know certain resources were accessible to them, and I’m glad I was able to guide them in the right direction. I will continue to do so, as I know there are many more families facing the same challenges.

What does case management mean to you?

To me, case management means guiding and supporting youth and families through challenging times. For example, when working with at-risk youth, a case manager helps connect the youth and their family with essential resources such as counseling, educational support, housing assistance, or job training. The goal is to improve the client’s well-being and outcomes by ensuring they have access to the right resources and support systems.
