COMMUNITY HEALING COLLABORATIVE OBTAINS ELEVATE GRANT

Updated: Apr 10

The CYS Community Healing Collaborative (CHC) team is committed to uplifting and empowering youth by identifying those most at risk of violence and offering them and their families comprehensive support to address underlying triggers and needs. (1) Through their hard work and collaboration, the team successfully secured the Elevate grant which is awarded to nonprofits that uplift and improve the community.

The Elevate grant will help the CHC team expand its efforts to engage youth affected by school push-out, community violence, and substance abuse by connecting them to resources such as mentoring, case management, and trauma support for healing and empowerment. (2) It will also allow the team to introduce additional programs, such as youth group mentoring and trauma healing circles, designed to amplify youth voices, enhance self-awareness, and teach essential skills in conflict resolution, self-care, decision-making, leadership, life skills, and advocacy. All involved youth are invited to develop their leadership skills by participating in community events and supporting in the healing circle process. Selected graduates of the mentoring sessions will have the opportunity to enhance their leadership through peacebuilding work with gang-involved peers. (3

Stay tuned to hear about the progress and successes of these exciting new CHC programs.
